YAD RIVA:  LEGAL REPRESENTATION FOR THE ELDERLY IN ISRAEL

Yad Riva advocates for the rights of the frail, vulnerable and indigent elderly in Israel. Older people in Israel facing overwhelming issues such as elder abuse, financial exploitation and guardianship, or needing assistance accessing entitlements, turn to Yad Riva’s volunteer attorneys and caseworkers to provide practical and compassionate legal information and representation.

Yad Riva was founded in 1984 by Karen Andres, a Boston area arbitrator and mediator, and named in honor of her grandmother, Rita Elkins (born Riva Dvora Chenoi).  Described by her granddaughter as “a true ayshet chayil” (woman of valor), Rita was known for her gentle manner and graciousness, her acts of loving kindness and generosity toward others. Yad Riva was developed as a loving tribute to Rita’s special qualities.
